In Memory of a Friend
Today is a day of great sadness for my friends and I. Today we lost a dear friend, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother to her fight against cancer. Sue was always so cheerful and friendly to everyone. She was the type of lady to give you the food right out of her cupboards if you were hungry, the shirt off her back if you were cold, and always willing to give you a good hug when you needed one. Sue was a wonderful person and a great friend. I will miss her smile, her laugh, and her optimism.

Tie the strings to my life, my Lord,
Then I am ready to go!
Just a look at the horses --
Rapid! That will do!
Put me in on the firmest side,
So I shall never fall;
For we must ride to the Judgment,
And it's partly down hill.
But never I mind the bridges,
And never I mind the sea;
Held fast in everlasting race
By my own choice and thee.
Good-by to the life I used to live,
And the world I used to know;
And kiss the hills for me, just once;
Now I am ready to go!

Farewell
Tie the strings to my life, my Lord,
Then I am ready to go!
Just a look at the horses --
Rapid! That will do!
Put me in on the firmest side,
So I shall never fall;
For we must ride to the Judgment,
And it's partly down hill.
But never I mind the bridges,
And never I mind the sea;
Held fast in everlasting race
By my own choice and thee.
Good-by to the life I used to live,
And the world I used to know;
And kiss the hills for me, just once;
Now I am ready to go!
Emily Dickinson
